WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump will travel to China this week for a high-stakes summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and while items like the Iran war and trade are top of the list, Trump's also got his eye on potential business deals.
The president is expected to be joined by 16 of America's chief executives, including Tesla's Elon Musk and Apple's Tim Cook, when he heads to China.
The White House distributed a list of the business leaders traveling with Trump on Monday to The New York Times and other outlets:
After the White House sent its list, Cisco told the NYT its executive chief was unable to attend.
U.S. officials have previously reported that the president is looking to create a board of investment and a board of trade with China.
The meeting between Trump and Xi is set for Thursday, May 14. The two world leaders are expected to discuss the Iran war, trade, Taiwan and more during the two-day summit.
Trump and Xi's last meeting took place in October in South Korea, where the two agreed to pause a growing trade war between the two nations.
Ahead of the meeting, lawmakers in Washington, D.C., are pushing the administration to move forward with a weapons package for Taiwan.
