Volusia Republicans announce speakers at June 7 gala – Daytona Beach News-Journal
Volusia County Republicans are selling tickets to their massive gala, which has been renamed from the Lincoln Day Dinner.
The Trump Golden Age of America Dinner starts at 5 p.m. on June 7, and will feature speeches by three members of Congress and three top Republican gubernatorial candidates. Tickets start at $125.
“We decided to acknowledge who the president is and what’s going on, so that acknowledges the golden age of Trump, and that’s why we’re changing our branding,” said Vic Baker, Volusia County Republicans’ state committeeman. “It’ll have a golden age theme.”
The featured speakers will be a fireside chat-style back-and-forth starring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who ran unsuccessfully for vice president alongside U.S. Sen. John McCain in 2008.
Palin will be speaking with James Golden, aka Bo Snerdley, a radio personality who spent 30 years as producer and call screener for the late Rush Limbaugh. Snerdley has his own show on WABC in New York.
Other speakers will include Republican Florida congressmen Randy Fine, Cory Mills and Byron Donalds.
Fine, who represents Florida’s 6th District, and Mills, in the 7th, are being challenged in both the Aug. 18 Republican primary and on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Donalds is the leading candidate to replace Gov. Ron DeSantis. Two of his top rivals, Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, will also speak.
State Sen. Tom Wright, of New Smyrna Beach, will be master of ceremonies. The event will also feature music and dancing with Dana & Sharon.
