WASHINGTON (TND) — Former President Donald Trump was spotted arriving in Washington, D.C., despite no formally announced plans to visit the nation's capital this week.
Donning a pair of golf shoes, Trump could be seen on video deplaning Sunday evening at Dulles International Airport, about 20 miles outside center-city D.C.
Twitter users have speculated reasons for the visit, but no one has verified anything official yet.
Some have claimed it could be a health issue, for which Trump is returning to Walter Reed hospital to undergo care, while others have said it could have something to do with the ongoing investigation into whether Trump mishandled classified documents after leaving the presidency.
One of the first reporters to spot Trump in D.C. speculated the former president's motorcade was heading for his Northern Virginia golf course after leaving Dulles.
Trump's arrival in D.C. is only the second time he has been back to the nation's capital since leaving office.
In July, Trump attended the America First Policy Institute's two-day America First Agenda Summit in D.C. where he delivered the event's closing address.

The ongoing case against Trump, over his potential mishandling of sensitive documents, also loomed amid his arrival in the nation's capital on Sunday.
In the case's latest development, Trump's legal team urged a federal judge Monday to reject the Department of Justice's request to continue reviewing the sensitive information obtained from Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence while disagreements still remain as to the classification status of the documents.
