WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – President DonaldTrump says he is delaying plans to attack Iran.
This comes after America’s allies in the Middle East said a diplomatic solution is still possible. In a post on Truth Social on Monday, President Trump wrote, “I have been asked by the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to hold off on our planned Military attack of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled for tomorrow, in that serious negotiations are now taking place, and that, in their opinion, as Great Leaders and Allies, a Deal will be made, which will be very acceptable to the United States of America, as well as all Countries in the Middle East, and beyond.”
The President’s post also said any deal would include no nuclear weapons for Iran. The post also addressed whether no deal can be reached with Tehran, with the president writing that he’s instructed his national security team to be prepared to go forward with a full, large scale assault of Iran on a moment’s notice.
Later on Monday, reporters asked Trump to clarify his threat to attack Iran after weeks of a ceasefire, “We were getting ready to do a very major attack tomorrow and put it off for a little while, hopefully maybe forever, but possibly for a little while, because we’ve had very big discussions with Iran, and we’ll see what they amount to.”
Since the war began at the end of February, Iran has repeatedly rebuffed U.S. demands to curb its uranium enrichment and end the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. There’s no indication that this latest round of negotiations will result in a diplomatic solution.
