President Donald Trump’s latest poll numbers are in, and they bring a fresh warning sign for his second term.

A New York Times/Siena national survey of registered voters released Monday, May 18, found Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 37 percent, according to the Siena Research Institute.
The poll also found that 59 percent of voters disapprove of Trump’s job performance.
The result marks a second-term low for Trump in New York Times/Siena polling, according to The New York Times.
Voters gave Trump poor marks across several major issues. The Siena Research Institute said majorities disapprove of his handling of the economy, the cost of living, the war with Iran, and immigration.
The war with Iran stands out as a major problem for the president. Sixty-four percent of voters said the war was the wrong decision, while 55 percent said it has not been worth the costs, according to the Siena Research Institute.
The poll also shows warning signs for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections. Democrats lead Republicans 50 percent to 39 percent on the generic congressional ballot, giving them an 11-point advantage.
That edge comes as both parties face broad voter frustration. The Siena Research Institute said large majorities are unsatisfied with both Democrats and Republicans.
Trump’s support has also weakened among independents and young voters, according to The New York Times crosstabs.
Those groups could matter in close races, especially as voters weigh the economy, rising energy costs, and the war in Iran.
The numbers land at a pivotal moment for Trump and the GOP. His approval rating is down, voters are sour on several core issues, and Democrats now hold a clear lead on the congressional ballot.
For Republicans, the brand-new poll points to a tougher fight ahead.
