Defense: Lawmakers go hands-off amid Trump Iran uncertainty – Punchbowl News
Congress has been relegated to the role of Truth Social watcher as President Donald Trump oscillated in recent days between a peace agreement with Iran and massive new strikes to capture oil infrastructure.
There’s no indication of Republican demands for additional oversight hearings or briefings related to the conflict. Most were content to give Trump wide latitude to figure out a peaceful path forward, even as Congress for the first time rebuked him over Iran a few weeks ago.
Posting to his Truth Social account over the weekend, Trump said a deal with Iran would be signed Sunday and would immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
