Trump approval rating continues to sink. What polls show is the reason – The Providence Journal
President Donald Trump‘s approval rating has continued to sink amid the Iran war, rising gas prices and hantavirus.
An average of recent polls from the New York Times found that Trump’s average approval rating as of May 12 is 38%, with 58% disapproving of his performance. His approval has dropped over the past month.
The drop in his approval is in part due to the Iran war. In new Ipsos/Reuters poll released May 11, two-thirds of Americans say President Donald Trump hasn’t made a clear case for going to war with Iran, and almost as many are feeling the financial pinch from rising gas prices caused by the conflict. A YouGov/Economist poll also released May 11 found that 55% of adults, including 21% of Republicans, oppose the war, and a May 6 Marist University poll found that 61% of Americans, including 25% of Republicans, say that U.S. military action in Iran has done more harm than good.
Here’s what some of the most recent national polls show about Trump’s presidential job approval rating as of May 12.
