Trump approval ratings continue to drop. See April approval polls for NC, US – The Asheville Citizen Times
As April draws to a close, another round of approval ratings on President Donald Trump‘s job performance has rolled in.
As usual, there have been plenty of notable recent headlines involving the president. News on an April 25 shooting, which took place at the Washington Hilton’s ballroom, continues to make the rounds; the shooting resulted in a Secret Service agent being injured and Trump, first lady Melania Trump and senior administration officials being whisked away.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has been drawn into certain headlines involving Trump following the White House’s calls for him to be fired by Disney and ABC. Kimmel responded in part by telling first lady Melania Trump to speak to President Trump about what he called the president’s “violent rhetoric,” as reported by USA TODAY.
The president has also been tied to the rise of average U.S. gas prices to their highest level since the start of the Iran war, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining closed. Trump has insisted that any agreement to end the conflict must include Iran giving up its uranium and agreeing to halt future enrichment.
Here’s what to know about the president’s approval rating in North Carolina and throughout the U.S. as April draws to a close.
Recent polls found the following on Trump’s approval rating:
A study from Catawba College published March 31, surveyed 1,000 adults in North Carolina for their opinions on the job performances of politicians, including Trump and N.C. Gov. Josh Stein, as well as other hot topics such as tariffs, the U.S. conflict with Iran and more.
The study found a 42% approval rating for Trump among Tar Heel State respondents and a 55% disapproval rating, which the study noted was the widest gap recorded in the past year.
The Catawba poll also found that Tar Heel State respondents gave Gov. Josh Stein a 50% approval rating and a 29% disapproval rating.
According to results from now-defunct polling website FiveThirtyEight, Trump had a final approval rating of 34% when he left office in 2021. His approval average during his first term was 41%.
