Trump’s latest polling numbers ‘literally broke the scale’ – wonderwall.com
New polling data suggests mounting public dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump, with one prominent analyst saying the president’s approval ratings have fallen so sharply that they “broke the scale” of the graph. The figures, drawn from a mid-April national survey, point to declining support across multiple policy areas, including the economy and the cost of living.
Pollster G. Elliott Morris drew attention to the scale of the decline in Trump’s approval rating after reviewing results from a Strength in Numbers/Verasight survey conducted April 10 to April 14, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percent.
“Trump literally broke the scale of this graph on my data portal,” Morris wrote, referring to a chart tracking approval across key issues. The most striking drop came on inflation and the cost of living, for which Trump’s approval rating fell so low that it extended beyond the chart’s original range, forcing an adjustment to display the full decline.
According to the poll, Trump’s approval on inflation and cost of living stands 40.3 points underwater, signaling a deep erosion of confidence in his handling of economic issues. Rising costs have remained a dominant concern for voters, with the data showing that dissatisfaction is not confined to a single demographic group.
The polling slump comes amid a series of political and policy challenges. Trump’s immigration crackdown has drawn criticism, while his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files has also received negative evaluations in surveys. Trump’s recent controversial public comments on the Iran conflict have added to the scrutiny, with some critics accusing him of endorsing extreme measures, and reporters raising questions about his conduct and decision-making during public appearances.
The same survey also found that a majority of U.S. adults, 55 percent, said they support impeaching Trump, compared to 37 percent opposed and 8 percent unsure. Notably, the poll indicated that about one in five voters who supported Trump in the 2024 election also backed impeachment, suggesting cracks within his supporter base.
