Only days after the Interior Department announced DC's Iconic Arts of War sculptures will be regilded, President Trump shared photos of the progress of returning the statues to a state of golden glory.
On June 4, the Department of the Interior announced that Secretary Bergum ordered for the states to be regilded for the first time since 1971.

The action is part of President Trump's "effort to make the Nation’s Capital safe and beautiful," the department said in a post on X.
Now, the President is sharing an update on the progress only a few days later. In a post on Truth Social, he released up-close photos of the gilding in progress.
Trump said the project will be fully done by July 3, before the nation celebrates its 250th birthday.

According to the National Park Service, the statues were created by sculptor Leo Friedlander and stand at the end of Memorial Bridge.
The statue "Sacrifice" depicts a standing woman representing earth, looking toward the figure of Mars mounted on a horse.
