During a recent debate, U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas said “I think that there is more than enough to impeach Donald Trump” as reported by CNN. He is one of many in office and among the public calling for what would be the president’s third impeachment.
Non-partisan group, Blackout The System, is circulating a petition to impeach Trump over “greed, corruption, and a lack of accountability in leadership,” among other accusations on Change.org. It has collected more than 166,000 signatures so far. Last month, the president himself during a House GOP retreat said, “You got to win the midterms because if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just going to be — I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me. I’ll get impeached.”
But is this happening? Why? Here’s everything know, including Trump’s approval ratings statewide and nationally:
Civiqs’ approval rating poll is able to be broken down by state with more than 400,000 responses. As of Jan. 26, Trump had an approval rating of 41% in Georgia while 55% don’t like him and the other 3% are unsure. This represents a drop in popularity since his inauguration about one year ago, when Georgians were 44% for and 54% against.
Here’s how Trump is looking nationally:
While Trump is not currently being impeached, there are discussions and proposed House resolutions for a third impeachment effort introduced, such as the most recent H. Res. 939 on Dec. 10, 2025. It was tabled by a vote of 237-140. A third impeachment would likely face significant political barriers due to the current Republican-controlled House and Senate.
According to the Polymarket, betting odds show a 14% chance that Trump will be impeached by end of 2026. Meanwhile Kalshi betting odds show a growing 7% chance he’ll be impeached by Jun. 1, 2026; 15% chance by Jan. 1, 2027 and 66% chance by Jan. 1, 2028.
One of the president’s recent controversial statements is really in the spotlight as the early stages of the midterm elections start.
In an interview with Reuters, Trump boasted that he had accomplished so much that “when you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election.” This was not long after a House GOP retreat where he said “They had the worst president, did the worst job. They had the worst policy. We have to even run against these people. Now, I won’t say cancel the election, they should cancel the election, because the fake news will say, ‘He wants the elections canceled. He’s a dictator.’ They always call me a dictator.”
Whatever his true intentions, during the same retreat, Trump urged Republicans to win these midterms because “If we don’t win the midterms, it’s just going to be — I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me. I’ll get impeached.”
The midterm elections are scheduled to take place later this year on Nov. 3, 2026.
