Donald Trump’s Hulk Hogan tribute goes awry – Cageside Seats
A common typo by the president, or a reference to Monday Night War history?
President Donald Trump recently paid tribute to Hulk Hogan, who was one of his biggest celebrity supporters during the lead-up to the 2024 election. However, an unfortunate typo in his online post about the wrestling icon led to a slew of jokes.
In a post on his Truth Social media platform last weekend, Trump seemingly meant to refer to Hogan as the “Hulkster,” yet what came out written in his message was “We all miss the Huckster!”
The note was accompanied by a sweaty Hogan holding a WWE (then-WWF) championship belt.
The mistake soon caught the eye of many people who used the occasion to mock the president.
”@WhiteHouse please remind our mentally declining @realDonaldTrump the guy he’s missing is Hulk Hogan,” one person wrote on X (Twitter) while sharing the Truth Social post.
The same note added: “The only Huckster is Trump. Thank you for your attention.”
Another X user shared a similar sentiment, writing: “Um….the ‘Huckster’ is the idiot who posted this regarding Hulk Hogan.”
“So the “Huckster”. Yall think that was his pet name for Hulk Hogan? Also why is this so creepy?” Said another person on X.
More than one wrestling fan referenced the fact that Vince McMahon once aired a series of parodic sketches on WWF programing in 1996 that featured a “Huckster.”
The sketches centered around The Huckster, Nacho Man, and Billionaire Ted. These characters were thinly-veiled takes on Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, and WCW owner Ted Turner. (These aired, of course, after Hulk and Randy jumped from WWF to WCW.)
Hogan passed away in July 2025 after going into cardiac arrest. Prior to his death, he was a vocal supporter of Trump and even spoke at 2024’s Republican National Convention.
Upon news of Hogan’s 2025 death, Trump posted a fond remembrance of the WWE Hall of Famer on Truth Social.
“We lost a great friend today, the ‘Hulkster.’ Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart,” Trump wrote. “He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!”
What do you think about Trump’s typo, Cagesiders? Could he have been referencing the infamous Huckster sketches of 1996? Let us know in the comments.
