Senate confirms Arkansas prosecutor nominated by Trump for federal attorney role – 5newsonline.com
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An Arkansas prosecutor has been confirmed for a federal role after being nominated by President Donald Trump.
Crawford County Prosecutor Kevin Holmes was first announced as a nominee for the U.S. Attorney role in the Western District of Arkansas in October 2025. The nomination was not acted on in time but was resubmitted at the start of 2026.
On May 18, 2026, the U.S. Senate confirmed Holmes to the role.
Holmes said after the confirmation that he appreciates the nomination from Trump and the support of Senators Boozman and Cotton.
“I appreciate President Trump and the opportunity to serve the people of the Western District of Arkansas,” Holmes said. “It is a huge responsibility, and I appreciate the trust he placed in me. I also thank Senator Boozman and Senator Cotton for their support.”
Senator John Boozman of Arkansas took to social media shortly after the confirmation to share he was “pleased” with Holmes taking the role.
“We’re grateful for his willingness to serve in this important position responsible for helping keep communities safe and pursuing justice,” Boozman said.
Holmes will serve a four-year term in the role and replaces Clay Fowlkes, who was in the role on an interim basis following the 2020 resignation of Duane “Dak” Kees.
Fowlkes himself was nominated by Trump and confirmed as a judge in the Western District of Arkansas earlier this year.
