Infamous Trump donor Elon Musk made history Friday when the initial public offering of stock to his SpaceX company pushed his net worth past $1 trillion, making him the world’s first trillionaire.
That’s a grotesque amount of money for any one human to hold—made worse by the fact that it’s Musk, who has proven that he won’t use his fortune for good.
Instead, Musk uses his unfathomable amount of wealth to curry favor with Republican lawmakers so he can line his pockets with federal contracts and avoid paying taxes. Not content with personal enrichment, he also uses the government access he paid for to inflict harm on Americans and foreigners alike.
Musk spent nearly $292 million in the 2024 election to help elect Donald Trump and other GOP lawmakers, whose first major piece of legislation was a tax cut for the rich—like Musk.
He uplifted GOP candidates through deceptive advertising and rampant disinformation spread on his social media platform, X. Once the Republicans won, Musk used his influence to recoup his losses—convincing the government to give him billions in contracts that bolster his businesses.

His massive spending to help get Trump elected and avoid prison time paid off in the form of the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency, which Musk led.
Through DOGE, Musk terrorized government employees through childish threats and firings that would end up cutting necessary programs, like weather forecasting and air traffic control.
He also tormented the elderly and immigrants by making it difficult—if not impossible—to contact the Social Security Administration to receive their retirement benefits. He even tried to use SSA data to deport immigrants.
As the head of DOGE, Musk cut vital foreign aid programs that led to hundreds of thousands of deaths from starvation and malnutrition and the spread of preventable diseases like Ebola and screwworm.
And after all of that, DOGE didn’t even save taxpayers any money.
Federal spending has actually increased since the creation of DOGE’s, which has cost taxpayers a pretty penny to cover severance for laid-off federal workers, legal challenges, and inefficiencies that the DOGE dopes created with their haphazard cuts.
Musk is a menace to society, and the fact that he’s now the world’s first trillionaire is a disgusting failure of public policy.
“Elon Musk just became the world’s first trillionaire,” Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts wrote on X Friday. “The typical American household would have to work more than 11 MILLION years to make Elon Musk’s level of wealth. We need a wealth tax.”
